Professional Learning Conferences at Internationals Network

Internationals Network offers a series of annual conferences designed to bring together educators, school leaders, and staff to strengthen support for multilingual learners.

Each event—whether a school-based professional development day, regional Summer Institute, the Fall Professional Development Conference, or our National Leadership Retreat—provides a space for collaboration, learning, and reflection rooted in the Internationals Approach. Participants engage in practitioner-led workshops, share promising practices, and explore strategies to advance equity, deepen student engagement, and build inclusive learning environments.

These conferences are open to educators across all roles and experience levels, and are designed to build community, elevate teacher voice, and support the success of multilingual learners through shared inquiry and action.

Fall Professional Development Conference

Each fall, Internationals Network brings together educators from across our national network for a full day of collaboration, learning, and inspiration. Our annual Fall Professional Development Conference is a cornerstone event designed by and for educators who support multilingual learners.

Through dynamic, practitioner-led workshops and promising practice shares, participants explore strategies that center student voice, deepen engagement, and advance equity in schools. The conference offers a space to connect with peers, reflect on shared challenges, and build actionable solutions grounded in the Internationals Approach.

Whether you’re a teacher, counselor, school leader, or support staff, this conference is a powerful opportunity to grow your practice, share your insights, and be part of a vibrant learning community committed to multilingual learner success.

Summer Institutes

Our annual Summer Institute is a two-day learning experience that brings together new and returning educators from across the Internationals Network. Through hands-on workshops, collaborative planning, and cross-school exchanges, participants build a shared foundation in the Internationals Approach while exploring effective practices for supporting multilingual learners.

Each regional Institute offers tailored programming rooted in local context, while staying grounded in our network-wide commitment to equity, student voice, and language development. Whether you’re just joining an Internationals school or returning with experience, Summer Institute is your opportunity to reflect, connect, and get inspired for the year ahead.

National Leadership Retreat

The National Leadership Retreat is a three-day convening that brings together school and network leaders from across the Internationals Network to collaborate, reflect, and strengthen their leadership practice in service of multilingual learners.

Designed as a space for deep learning and connection, the Retreat features whole-group sessions, targeted workshops, and peer-led discussions that address real-world leadership challenges—from instructional vision and data use to student support and school transformation. Leaders engage in meaningful exchange across schools and regions, share promising practices, and leave with actionable strategies to implement in their local context.

Participants value the Retreat as a time to step back, gain perspective, and return to their work with renewed clarity, tools, and community. Whether you’re a principal, assistant principal, coach, or emerging leader, the National Leadership Retreat offers the time and space to grow your impact—together.

“Internationals provides us with a forum for exchanging ideas with other educators engaged in similar work across the country. We listen to one another, borrow ideas, and push each other’s thinking. Through Internationals we are able to offer our students authentic opportunities to share their insight (panels, forums, workshops) -our students have an audience that values what they share and their understanding can lead to change within our community.”

— Internationals Network Leader

“I cannot live without our national and regional meetings/PD because we are a community of practice with shared goals.”

— Internationals School Leader

“We have learned a lot about how to serve newcomers: language PDs, collaboration structures and sharing of best practices or models that are working in programs across the country. We have learned to work better as a team, armed with skills that push learning for adults and students.”
